New Hair

My hair never grew from peach fuzz phase until I was 3.

Of course feuled by the insecurities, as soon as my hair started growing I've had it as long as I possibly can. My personal record, bum level. 

Having fine straight hair was all fine espeially during the rebonding trend where my hair was all the rage. But like any other girl/human being we often long for the greener grass on the other side. 

Every few years, tired from the tedious hair washing rituals which inlucded arm breaking hair washes and 2 hour air drying. I would chop it all off. 

Other than boredom, a girl usually requires a fresh new start when ever a personal ordeal has been surpassed. Such as quiting a job they detested or messy breakup. I was speaking from personal experience on the latter.

My hair was getting way too long and heavy which given the fact that I have thin hair was not flattering at all. Added with a sprinkling of personal ordeal, it was time for renewal. 

Off with her hair!                                                                          I usually do my hair in Aimax branch in Kulim. I like the hair stylist and the shampoo girls are friendly. Plus its the only real hair salon in this small town that I actually trust. A good hair salon is sacred, don't you agree? Hmm...might consider this bob for the future. Sorry no make up when I went to the salon.

Edward is nice and good looking guy. He would take all your request into consideration. But he's quite camera shy. This was the only picture  managed to get of him. So what did I get done there? Chopped of my tail, dyed it a warm auburn colour with highlight. And to add some body which I've been dying for, a little digital perm.

What do you mean the mothership is here? Digital age man. It took a long time as I've decided to get everything done in one sitting. Poor Edward was so worried about me skipping lunch. I downplayed the fact I've had a huge sandwich earlier but saying I've had brunch.

Originally I was inspired by Alexa Chung here. I wanted something short but still girly as I know I'm not the edgy chic kind. Something with movement and body.

But Teddy Ben said, much to his excitement, that it reminded him of her. So now I'm Teddy Bens lil Black widow fantasy.

In the end I was quite happy with my new hair!

Of Art, Tendrils and Roots

I awoke this morning seeing this site. A wonderful idea, preserving the wonderful talents. There is something about theatre that really stirs the human. The awkward feeling peering into the lives playing out before you. The entrapment of the emotion is palpable, details and stage laid out for your curiosity. Those few moments sharing such experience you can’t help but to take a piece of it with you. Though these are recordings, but still as precious an item of preservation.

Same goes to other art forms. Paintings, music, sculptures, dance. You take a piece of it with you. It acts as a fertiliser for your heart and brain. Growing and spreading your tendrils on the dimensions of life. Yet, your roots grow stronger as a national identity becomes clearer through simple comparison. Appreciation is grown. A human is grown.

Though I lack the talent, I crave for such nourishment. I love every part of it even if some, the meaning alludes me but to be sharing connecting with the arts is what makes a society a step closer to utopia.

We all are different. We grow differently. Some people might detest this artsy fartsy world. But those are the unripe minds.

You need not know scores of the musical scale to appreciate the song birds, the songstress of nature. You need not be Shakespeare to be blown away by the drama of life as it unfolds. For me, my appreciation stems from a emotional and spiritual place. Though perhaps a degree in Music would enable me to better express the exact detailed intricacy that makes the concerto empowering. But I’ll leave that to the experts, preferring to be carried away by the waves of music. As mortal human without such said formal education we can still appreciate.

The soil seems rather barren now, safe for the few forest reserves that still teem with the strong beech trees of art. Our tendrils are shrivelling in ignorance. We are so weak now, that at any breeze we falter. The roots are shallow. We have nothing to grasp to except our own unaware bodies. But there is hope.

As such attention should be given to education, commerce, sports etc we need a good gardener. To develop so that our country will be a deeply rooted, far reaching country. For just concentrating on either one is not enough. We needn’t be a jack of all trades and not all of us are gifted to be masters of any. We need all to support a rich ecosystem. Appreciation, realisation needs to co exist. Quality over quantity and for the soul rather for than for superficial appearance.

A beautiful flower is of no use if it smells horrid or if the stems are sickly.

Let us not retreat into dystopia.
