Mr Benedict Cumberbatch. Picture credits got to http://benedictcumberbatch.co.uk do follow them on Twitter for the latest news. They do the stalking for you.
Before you scoff let me just state a few reasons why.
I've always been partial to men of brilliance and of the arts. I'm sure you could wiki his whole life history so I shall not go into it. By the way here is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benedict_Cumberbatch
Only recently I took notice of him in Sherlock. It's not showing in Malaysia, which would explain my frustration that not enough people know about him and they jolly well should.
Playing a hero with flaws which we all love to love and hate, this Byronic character enticed and toys with your emotions and minds which of course the latter being more titillating. The cast and the people behind it has a special bond. You can feel it through the seamless chemistry on the show.
Here are a few points which attracted me to him.
His Name
Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch, or Benedict Cumberbatch is quite a mouthful. But it really is a special name. I was made fun of when I was young, being called Gorilla when my actual name was Gloria. But I'm glad to see that growing up while being teased "bendy d*ck come on my babs" can really built such a character. And what a stunning character he is. I wonder how did he reacted then? I just kept quiet and ignored my bullies and the teasing eventually stopped.
His Look
He is rather dashing, that can't be denied. But instead of cashing in on it at an early age and elope into the entertainment business, he stuck to his studies. Mind you he was already keen into acting at a young age, his parents were accomplished actors in their days. What I like most is the way he carries himself. His body posture. Gosh, I do have a thing for good postures.
In this video you could still see the endearing awkwardness about him that youth always comes attached with.
But now there is this quiet confidence about him that oozes so naturally. He tries to plays it down with his wit and humility. Which only highlights his character even more. Well played.
His Voice
This was the clincher for me. Being classically trained his voice has always been so inviting. But listening to some of his readings now. Oh my. It is as if he know, with each word that slips through his golden lips lies the key to unlocking a listeners heart. The deep steady baritone resonated in my heart the 1st time I heard him read this...
From education to theatre to radio dramas, TV screens and now coming soon to the big screen. I'm glad he took his time to seal his foundation. He really is a rock solid thespian.
Oh by the way he has a lisp that was more pronounced in his earlier years. Being a linguist myself I simply find it so mesmerisingly fascinating. Definitely another good example in my effort to help improve the level of English among the youth in my little neck of the woods.
So here is my open letter/ YouTube video to him. My brain has not caught up to my mouth so be warned.
Now you know why he is my muse. He brings back memories of me reading to my dad behind his back. Not just a pretty face but a man of pure talent which he has successfully polished into a diamond. Mark my words, he is a man to watch out for. Some day he would join the ranks of the Sirs of great Britain. But for now, to me at least, he is my muse.
P/S: Teddy Ben finds it amusing and probably a little bit jealous but not threatened in the very least be cause he still thinks I'm just a fan girl far far away. Maybe I am just another a fan but shall try to restraint my self and be a poised respectable one. Mind you that takes alot of mental strength. Why? Here's why...

The BBC Sherlock is my second favourite TV show at the moment. I also saw Benedict Cumberbatch in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, War Horse and he'll be voicing Smaug in the upcoming Hobbit movie.
@k0k s3n w4i What is you top fav TV show? He will also be in Star Trek! I've always been more of a Trekkie, swooning over Data lols...But he'll be playing a villain. Still he is a man of great acting degree.
He is very charming! You're not the only one swooning over over him.I am too:D
@missyblurkit Oh yes, the English gentlemen charm is very disarming ^^ can't rmbr the last time I felt so much like a fan girl!
Bonjour Glow~~
Thank you for posting this and your youtube video.
I, too, have found myself suddenly smitten with BC through a chance viewing of Sherlock and then became a bit obsessed with him.
A friend of mine suggested that I write him a fanmail, and I thought: No Way! I'm not a simpering and foolish fangirl, but I Googled "Open Letter to Benedict Cumberbatch" and found your video and recognized myself a little bit. "Thanks for the inspiration" is a lovely sentiment and I also have found, especially in the Sherlock portrayal, something akin to a muse.
I think it's very beautiful that you are reminded of your father and inspired to get out your books and read.
@Miss Jane Alas a kindred spirit! I too am glad that he exists. There aren't that many people we can look up to these days. Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment.
