David Choi Live in KL #1

When I heard that David Choi was performing live in Malaysia, I squeeed. Yes, that was my exact word. It didn't matter that I was 200 over miles or 300 over KM away. I was determined not to miss him. And it was well worth it. Thanks to some guardian angels, namely Wilee and Wilson, I had a fantastic night.

David Choi is an amazing talent. An American Korean, he rose to fame on YouTube with a special love song he composed one fine day. And it would seem that many shared his love and sense of humour as the video quickly became a favorite of many. Through the years, he had uploaded many original sound tracks as well as covers and even lending himself to the capable hands of many YouTube legends such as Wong Fu Productions, Ryan Higa and other funny greats.

Having been forced to learn musical instruments when he was young, I'm glad that he has accepted his true gift and decided to share it with the world like many other YouTubers out there. Sharing is caring right? Heck, even his dad is on you tube.
You can check him out HERE.

The venue

The challenge
Students of UCSI, I salute you for climbing this everyday. May you be blessed with great health.

The squee

The Angels

The Souvenirs
I got a T-Shirt! It was already sighed. I wonder of the ink is water proof....

The Calm (moments before the wave)
Someone actually named a wifi under the name FOR DAVID CHOI. That certainly made an impression on the performer. Who ever you are, know that you are awesome. UPDATE! Wifi provided by a Mr Daviestxj through his phone! His twitter HERE

The Talents
Suki looking tres chic in her pink blazer, David strumming an audiences ukulele of which he later signed "David was here" and a talented young audience. She deserved it as she had probably played the song many times. You'll never know when you might need to perform right?

The SQUEE!
Got a smile out of him.

Here's a little endeavor for my lovely readers.

A clip of the interview done by our local Radio DJs

Some of us managed to have a short chat with him, mainly spoke of
  • It wasn't honey which he liked on toast this morning, it was kaya, a Malaysian jam
  • How he must come back again so we can stuff him with more food like Ramli burger
  • How awesome he is live
  • How thankful we were that he would actually come here
  • Basically loads of gushing, but that could be just me.
Among other things he let slip that his next album would be less emo. But personally I think he could do no wrong in our book. Emo, smiley, non smily, tooting, we'll still appreciated him. With Nice Guys around him, he'll be in safe hands.

We felt bad keeping him away from his supper and bed so we left him in the safe hands on the Malaysian ground crew.

Once again, thank you David Choi for doing this epic tour and we hope to see you again soon, if not on You Tube.

Terima kasih banyak-banyak

P/S: You can listen to his whole album on YouTube. All arranged into playlists! How thoughtful and generous is he? Just click on the links below and so show some YouTube love to him.

P/P/S: If you were there that night, I was the one who *ahem audible suggested he tries Tongkat Ali. Red Bull wouldn't cut it.

Okay last one, I promise,

P/P/P/S: If your a huge fan and you missed him, it's okay, try following him in the links below so you will be part of US.

Ladurée Macaroons

Before I show you the good you must look at this!

3 hard boiled eggs, mashed
2 boiled potatoes, mashed
2 scoops of mayonnaise
pinch of pepper
pinch of dill
pinch of salt
1 avocado, cubed

Glow's eggtatocado sandwich

Has a ring to it.
Non?

Alright behold

Feel free to squee at the myriad of colours while imagining the flavors.

These babies have come a long way from a little patiseries called Ladurée
in Paris and2 transits on their way to Kedah. One of the more famous macaroon shops among the Americans and Japanese, this little box of treasure is worth a tidy sum. The other masters of macaroons is Pierre Herme.

Brings a smile to my face, how about yours?

Recently there's been a boom of macaroon in Malaysia. Yes, despite the mass inflation we Malaysians still know how to indulge in our bourgeoisie side.
And they are not cheap here.
One 20 cent sized macaroon can cost up to RM3 here and a larger more substantial bite would be RM 6.

My guess is the fact that these little buggers are not easy to make. Even the temperature of the surrounding kitchen and it's humidity plays a card in production. That meant, if your making it in a small kitchen and it's raining outside, you're basically done for.

Laduree has 14 brances all over the world! Except Malaysia. The closest one to us is in:

Japan

Evergreen favorite flavors include:

*This drool worthy picture is from their site, link below.

But if you're in luck, you might be able to get these shy seasonal little beauties

*This drool worthy picture is from their site, link below.

It was like playing Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans as we tried to guess the flavors.
Some were an instant know while others,
well let's say we had to sample more to make a correct deduction.
*excuse to eat more*

The only place these little feet will be running is into my mouth!
Noms.

*the feet refers to the crackly, puffed second layer that measures about 1/16-inch high

You can follow them on FB and Twitter HERE for new updates and perhaps "convince" them into opening a shop here =)

P/S: Whats you're flavor?

Hotel Review: Holiday Villa & Resorts Subang Part 2

If you've missed our earlier adventure,
check out part one HERE.

Video tour of our room

Welcome to part 2 of the Holiday Villa & Resort Subang experience. Now if you've read part 1 you would already know of the perils we had faced to get here.

And know after a day of adventure, we retire to a new room.

Our final quest requires to be on the top most floor. Interesting I murmured as Ben pressed the 19.

Up we go.

We were suspicious as the top floors are usually reserved for the larger suites, larger meaning also more expensive.

My deductions were accurate. Lol and behold,

Prima Deluxe King

Room Configuration: Individually controlled air-conditioning • television with satellite channels • separate shower & bath • alarm clock • IDD telephone system • broadband internet access • work desk • hair dryer • personal toiletries • mini bar • electronic safe • piped-in music • coffee/tea making facilities

Comfy discerning couch with no flamboyant chair in sight.

The Prima treatment.

A basket of toiletries.

Look what I discovered in the toilet.

Any idea? It looks like a vacuum. My guess was it was meant to suck.

But man did it BLOW!
Useful I guess as a hairdryer or blowing away facial hair after a shave, for men.

Another picture in a separate bathroom mirror compared to Part 1.

The bathroom.

The old school universal remote.
Controls the lights, alarm clocks, temperature and A/C and used to be able to change the TV channels as well but I guess it gout out of control there.

On our way to breakfast.

We had trouble here as it would seem that we we're not given any breakfast vouchers upon checking in. I thought they had the system where by you tell your name and room number like the resorts in Koh Samui. Apparently I was mistaken. I can be very assuming I know.

Fortunately the manager at hand was very quick and helpful. One call and we were ushered in.
Not before getting eyed by a few voucher holders.

The talented Egg boy. He makes a mean fluffy omelette. One of the best I've tasted yet.

The supporting cast to compliment a hearty breakfast.

Other patrons.

Round 1: Glow, Continental

My expression eating the fluffy omelette.

EGGU! to accompany...

Round 2: Ben, Nasi Lemak

They even had plain porridge and some soup noodle thing.

Several buns in the oven all warm and toasty.

More supporting cast.

My city of fruits.

Porridge.

After a lovely breakfast we decided to go for a walk.

Holiday Villa Subang is quite large. Ben remembers having an interact club function here back in the day. Yeah they they're happening like that.

Majestic.

Public cleansing.

I was there.

2 very full hotel stayers.

Upon further wandering we found this,

Clean and spacious but could do with a few more tows to liven up the area.

As Ben went back up to continue his digetion with a nap. I had to hurry up and get ready for my complimentary massage which is coming up in the grand Finale PART TROIS!

Me packing and getting ready in a hurry.

Do Your Part: STOP Animal Abuse

Have you seen the open wounds of a dog while at the road side or kopitiam?
Or how about the bag of bones whimpering for a scrap of food?
How many times have you looked at a stray and longed to give them a better life?

How many time have you frowned upon senseless people abusing these creatures who are trying their best to survive on the streets and not die of cold or starvation before the diseases take over.

Don't you wish you could take them all back home and give them the chance to run for fun
and not away from boiling water thrown on them.

Maybe some of you have brought them to the local animal shelter.
Good for you.

But have you thought of will they ever find a home?
How long will they be there before the shelter gets over crowded and the cute little perfectly healthy bundles of joy gets put to sleep.

Yes, when it's over crowded and the shelters can't cope they get killed.
Everyday is genocide.
Not that they want too, these shelters are under staffed, over worked and under funded.
They have no choice.

But you do.

In Malaysia, animals have little to no rights. Offenders get off the hook from torturing animals with little more than a slap on the wrist.
Did you know that torturing animals is a precursor to torturing humans? It's just a few rungs away from being homicidal.

Don't worry, I'm not putting you on a guilt trip to open your doors to the pitter patter of furry paws.

Some of you are responsible enough to know that you are not ready to give these selfless beings all that you can, and I respect you for knowing that.

All I'm asking is for you to sign.

SPCA, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and some of the participating NGOs will be meeting the Ministry of
Housing on 20th June to discuss humane stray control management. So please don't let this die down,

Show them that we humans care for the animals in Malaysia. That we are capable of feeling empathy for these creatures.

Ghandi once said,

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress
can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

What do we have left if we can't even protect those whom are defenseless and voiceless.

Do your part

The response has been heart felt but we still need many more.
PLEASE help us get more signatures and KEEP THE PRESSURE going!

Pass this petition link to your friends locally and internationally. We need more voices to speak for those who can't.

This is Kitten, the sister of my recently departed Bob.

This is Bob.
He's dead now, but he has left us with many happy memories to cherish

The siblings sharing a tender moment.
The 2 of them and their mother was rescued more then a decade ago.
My family is blessed to have had their purrs and claw marks in our lives.

To those who signed and passed it along, this kitteh thanks you *less than three*
