While growing up in a family of 3 elder brothers, my mom always had this fear that I'll grow up into a real tom boy. Thus, in her effort to keep be as gender biased as possible, I was never allowed pants or shorts till I was in kindergarten. My mom exposed me to the frilly pearly lacey world of Hime Gyaru. Though she had never heard of such thing before.
I'm sure many of you have heard of this nursery rhyme growing up
The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout.
Down came the rain,
and washed the spider out.
Up came the sun,
and dried up all the rain,
went up the spout again.
I imagine I was quite a sight. A sticky petite Chinese girl with peach fuzzy hair and lacey dress, romping around the garden hunting down my pet spiders.
Yes, despite my mom's best effort I could not resist the rustic charm of catching cute little shiny spiders and the odd insects.
All with a giggle and dimple.
My mom made me that dress^^
