Hotel Review: Novotel

I do miss Kuala Lumpur very much since I've moved base to up north.
But one of the things I don't miss about out lovely city center is the daily get together on the roads. Yup, the dreaded traffic jams.

So during our stay in January for a wedding, Ben and I decided to rest our weary heads at 2 hotel near the wedding destination. One of which is the lovely Novotel Hotel.

I have always had an attraction to this place as in the past we've had a gathering there with our French lecturer Monsieur Jean during their French Food week a few years ago.
So to visit back this place and to sample their rooms instead was a treat indeed.

Upon entry I was greeted by a big burly man with a friendly face. I think he was in charge of the the front desk. While Ben trotted of to settle the check in,

the friendly hotel staff and I chatted awhile and found out that both of us hailed from Negeri Sembilan, he was from Rembau I believe. And both agreed that Negeri Sembilan people are generally more friendly. Was a little shy to aproach him for a picture but I was thankful for making my stay already more pleasant.

So shall we move on to the rooms?

Love the use of greens and earth tones in this urban hotel.

Nice comfy bed.

Per usual the TV and mini bar. Astro selected channels were available. I'm not so sure about the internet. I think I was charged for using it.

Seriously at this day and age, stable and free WIFI is pretty much expected in good hotels. Something which even big names like Hard Rock Hotel Penang doesn't deliver well.
Why is that?

Complimentary drinks, yes the 2 tins of guava juice as well. Great for thrifty people like me.

The coffee making station in zen black.

The views.

Yes, Pavillion was just a skip away. So that means Fahrenheit 88, Low Yat, KLCC and the whole shebang is just at your feet! Saves a few pretty pennies on transportation fare. One of the best reasons for me to stay here.

Sadly didn't have the chance to wade in the pool as we were rushing around helping out with the wedding preparations. Next time perhaps?

At night you can still feel the pulse of the city.

Moving on the the bathroom. My favorite spot in the world.

Yeay for bath tubs!

The bathroom was at an odd angle. More of a rhombus shape.
Odd but good use of space I say.

The basic necessities.
PLease bring your own toothbrush and tooth paste.
Hair dryers are provided.

And now the next day.

The buffet breakfast was pretty basic. It was rather surprising as Ben pointed out the fact that there was not staple Nasi Lemak.

Quintessential intercontinental breakfast.

A bit of porridge to start the day for me.

All in all it was an enjoyable stay for me.

The great location and decor of the rooms were a great plus.
But there were some downside.
Mostly petty stuff accept for this one.

EEKS! The water was flowing brown the next morning! Needless to say I brushed my teeth and wash my face with mineral water.
But by golly what a damper on a nice stay.

looks like a great hotel but the last part was a turn off...

wow! expensive?

@Chuen yeah so sad bout that but too late for them to do anything as we were checking out that very morning. A discount would have been nice but guess we didn't make a big fuss accept call the front desk to tell them about it.

@Henry Tan It's okay under RM300 a night. For that location it's about mid to mid upper range I would say ^^ Definitely not a budget hotel.

nice hotel....

when I was in hospitality school, one of my professor was a director for Novotel in Europe. I've heard great things about their hotel (not just from him haha). It's a bit disappointing though when things like flowing brown water from your bath happens on the last... one would expect Novotel to do a little something about it without necessarly having you make a fuss about it...

@M-Knight It's indeed in a great location! Might conciser it again, but mayb not in awhile.

@Shmuberry I love the fact that you know so much about hotels^^ I read up about Novotel too. International, great services and distinguished with reasonable rates still. No explanation was given at the check out. Sigh...guess we still have some way to improve.

Hello!

I like the review! I'm going to KL this march. I'm staying in Swiss garden hotel. Is it good? :)
Do you know anyway I can get to Chinatown from airport?
Appreciate and thank you for your advise!

@Calvin Ong Thanks for dropping by^^ I've not had the pleasure of staying at the Swiss Garden Hotel but so far I've heard not major complaints about them. you could catch a shuttle bus from LCCT to KL Sentral and catch an LRT to the nearest station. Just Google it up^^ Hope you enjoy your stay.

Lols! Filed a complaint, perhaps? :D Wow Novotel Hotel, seen it for few times but never get the chance to stay, KL is just 45 minutes away from my house. :D so I always can drive back to Seremban.

Beautiful Hotel! I think you should have put up more of a fuss about the brown water though. That's unacceptable IMO. They should have compensated you somehow!
