Meet Mr. Ginger

My 1st cat was called Mimi. She was around when I was born and throughout my childhood. She was ginger orange with short floret tail like a pom pom. She had a limp too but that never stopped her.

When I was young, about 3-4 years old, I would wrap Mimi up in a blanket and pretended she was a baby. She didn't mind but once I put her down she'll shoot off till dinner time. Happy days~

Back to the present.

Here is a cat I found in a fruit shop. Gentle fella. Shall we call him Mr. Ginger?

See his sweet smile?

I feel sad as he is having skin problems and the fruit stall owner is kind of mean to him.

He doesn't really bother much. No irritating constant mews. He just sits there and looks at you. Probably using his mind-control powers.

Road Trip with My Broadband

This is an advertorial.
ROAD TRIP!!!!

Where? When? How? Who cares? There comes a point in life where you just have to get up and get out.

Some where, anywhere. Be it down to the beach or driving out there for hours to the middle of no where, a road trip is good for the mind as well as for the soul.

Pack your bags and let’s go.

Wait, check list…

Snacks?
Check

Drinks?
Check

Money?
Check

Music?
Check

Lappie?
Check

Soft toys?
Check

Car?
Check

Petrol?
Check

You and me?
Check!
Let's get out of here....

Off we go. Chatting and laughing. Munching and singing. Then it hits us. Where are we heading? North, South? East or perhaps West?

Doesn’t matter. Let’s explore!

After about 3hours of aimless driving, it hits us again. We are lost.
Is that possible? To be lost when we have no destination in the 1st place?

We are. Somewhere between “Quit playing games with my heart” and “Bad Romance” we pointed to a sign and nodded that that was to be our destination.

No worries.
Whips out a life saver. “Welcome to the digital age” I said.

In this case when bored or LOST! Turn to your wiggy.

“What happen to the whole getting away from civilization thing?” you said.

I just smiled.
A couple of clicks and another hour of munching and emotional outpour through singing later, here we are.

Giddy with lack of sleep and oxygen from all the singing, it looks almost surreal.

Listen; can you hear the waves caressing the beach?

Smell the saline sea teeming with life.

Feel the sand welcoming your feet.

The wind playing with your hair…

What a road trip.

Now let's get back, I'm missing my project Alpha Season2.

Your driving back by the way.

Episode 8/49

Dans mon jardin...

Il ya des papayes bébé dans mon jardin, Quelle mignonne!

Look what I found in my garden, baby papayas? Well not quite but they are so adorable!

They really do look like papayas, don't they? But they're really small, just about 3cm.

But look what they can do...

They BLOOM!

Alright now, we have established that these cute little plants are not papayas, so what are they? Here it is.

I'm not sure of the English name but we, as in the older generation, call this Setawar. Lovely plant with thick waxy leaves. Quite hardy and easy to grow, all you need is a book. Yes, you heard me. A book.

This is a little experiment I use to do when I was like 7 years old. Ah the wonderful world of botany.

Let's call this project "The Growing Book Mark" shall we?

Get a book, the thicker the better.

Pluck a Setawar leaf.

Got it so far?

Choose a page, preferably somewhere in the middle of the book .

Insert the leaf like a book mark.

Then forget about it.

In about 7 days you'll get this...

Can you see life?

Wait, here's a better look ...

It's growing! Maybe it's me but seeing something so simple and intriguing like this always makes me smile^^

You can choose to leave it in to let it grow even more or plant it in a pot somewhere and wait for the baby papaya blooms to come. Don't think it happens very often though. Perhaps I was lucky?

P.S: If you noticed Setawar leaves, they grow leaves where mine grew roots too. but only when still attached to the mother plant. Perhaps I forced my leave to grow roots in search of water and nutrients?

Miraku

Welcome to...

Ben and I love food, especially Japanese food. And moving from Subang Jaya, where there are too many delicious and affordable Japanese food, to a small town in Kedah with not even a Mac D is quite challenging. Sushi King doesn't cut it for us.

So here we are ready to dive in and quench our cravings.

A little starter of some fried tofu, carrot and something sourish. Opens up the appitite as the Chinese saying goes.

I fail as a paparazzi I know, had a little cocktail to start the evening and here is one of the many well trained chef in Miraku.
We kept starring at the chef. It was like watching a show as they prepare the food. The skill and quick rhythm was excellent. We managed to see them prepare some really expensive dishes as well. We could only eat it with our eyes.

One of our favorite Japanese restaurant is Zen in Sunway Pyramid, Subang. Affordable, fresh and good ambiance. But alas we're too far away so here is a tribute to Zen.

Healthy start with some Kani salad.

Salmon belly shashimi.

To those who are going "ew..." Honey, good quality fresh shashimi is anything but fishy, you've been eating the wrong stuff.

Grilled scallops.

Some beef platter for the carnivore in Ben. Quite yummy especially with the fried garlic I hate raw garlic and sauce.

Korokke!

Hotate mentai. Scallop shells were HUGE think of Ariel but sadly it was only made up of 3 smaller sized scallops drowned in a sea of yummy melted cheese.

Usually I'll order the unagi set but guess we'll save it for another trip. Nice full meal...Onaka ipaidesu!~

Lastly,

Me, at a GLOWING Japanese garden poster

Holiday at G-Hotel!

Who says holiday has to be far away? G-Hotel is just an hour away from me. All the comfort and luxury just waiting for ME and Ben of course. G for Glow!

Got a fantastic rate for a 1 night stay. Did I mention that Gurney Plaza and Gurney Drive is just a stones throw way? Quite literally. So no more navigating through the Ilse of Penang. Rest, relaxation and shopping here we come.

Lovely view of the room.

The view out side in case Tsunami attack we'll be ready, but wait G-Hotel is facing west. So no worries then.

The pool, their pool and someones pool. And someone making another pool?

Ben just came from a seminar, hence the formal attire and fixation on the TV.

My favorite part of any house, the bathroom! Why? Click here. Was trying to recreate the fish eye effect without a fish eye effect. Can you smell a cover-up?

The mighty ivory throne! Love the purple wall.
But sadly no bathtub. I really really like bathtubs. So no soaking in bubble bath then, sigh.

Well moving on, you know how hotels usually give you moisturisers in teeny-weeny little bottles?
Well at G-Hotel, they are generous. See the bottom left corner? Yes, a full bottle of moisturiser that will probably last you a whole week? As with their shampoo and shower gel as well.

Favorite shot of the whole trip. The ivory throne is there to remind you where I am.

Basic kit of drinks and kettle, but wait, there is more. I'm a sucker for freebies.

Lovely cabinet right?

Oh wow, sleek mini bar.

Et voila! FREE drinks that will be replenished everyday! Yes you don't have to pay.

Well that's all for our room. Next up, the dinner that we have been craving for, only at...

P.S: A little something extra just for you.

Sunrise at 7.30 am. Doesn't it look magnificent? Apocalyptic even.
I have no reason as to why I was awake at that moment, but rest assured I went straight back to sleep after snapping this pic. In case I thought I dreamt it.
Oh and another thing,

You know how G-Hotel has a uber chic lobby right? No? See here. If you're there, go check out the washrooms.
Fishies!

The next post will surely make you drool. Wait for it.

P.P.S: Looking for the G-Spot? it's right here.

Bling bling 2.0~

Sorry, very busy right now with work. But I didn't forget about you.

UPDATE:
No longer using une-jeune-fille.blogspot.com. Why? Well the previous add was a tad too long and not everyone understands or are able to remember it. It means a young girl in French.

2) Check our my new layout! Do comment on it and if anyone is willing to share tips or services let me know! ^^

Back to our normal program...

So here is a very short and shiny update.

Yes, I am a bling addict. It is an addiction but it is not a problem. So a new batch of shiny new stickers arrived to brighten up my day.

Aren't they shiny and pretty? Go get yours at The Sticker Monster!

No, I'm not getting paid to say that. Good things that I bought and love are meant to be share, no?

The new victim, a seamlessly normal boring cotton bud holder. Doesn't it look sterile? With a little creativity and ingenuity, and blings as well.....

Et voila! Considered blinging the whole piece but then that would be just too obscene. Plus I Have other things to bling.

Like this!

Yes it's a hole puncher. But now it all shiny^^

My new calculator!

Ran out of bling now.... =(
Back to work people!

You tell me.

Had a "discussion" with someone today.

Is passion and or experience more important then a piece of paper? I said that yes, it's good if the candidate has the qualifications in paper especially for fields such as Science, Medicine etc but sometimes, one doesn't need that.

Do you need a degree in photography to be hired as a photographer? Would be good if you had one, but some people are born with the innate skills. At times, even with the piece of paper the person can be an utter tool. But with passion, drive and what more experience there is no limit. Let's move on to an example shall we?

A language teacher. That person has the passion and drive to learn a foreign language and even stayed there for 10 years, virtually a local. No degree but because of his determination and experience and the fact that he can think out of the box to make learning language fun, he's hired to teach. But the other people are not happy. Who is he? Does he have any papers? No? Ah then he's a nobody.

Yes, you can tell that I'm quite peeved. For me, I would rather see the person and not the paper. But not some people. No matter how good the candidate is in real life, no papers, nobody. 10 years experience, glowing recommendations, no paper nobody.

A better argument would be that: It would be better, since that person is already so good, to get a certification.

What do you think? Leave a comment, promise I'll reply and visit your blog^^

No Strings Attached

This is an advert.

Strings are important. Seriously, it’s what keeping us protected and clothed from the harsh elements, making beautiful music on guitars harps and pianos, yummy food like noodles and spaghetti. Face it, strings are a part of us, our connection between people.

But too much string isn’t very good, behold exhibit A.

Too much strings or in this case, wires can clutter. Where does it end and where does it begin? What is attached to where?

It can suffocate to boot, as it gets complicated. The maze of never ending filaments. Does the Kraken comes to mind?

Dragging you to a lower level of human being with anger, frustration and chaos. Haven’t we all been there?

But imagine a world without such mayhem. Where everything is just easy and breezy. No clutter, no worries, smooth sailing or surfing.

Where you can go oline and chat with your friends with ease. Or watch Project Alpha Season 2 without any lag. With no strings attached. Yes, this can happen. The answer is right in front of you.
So grab it while you can and don't be left out.
Project Alpha Season 2 is presented by Adidas Action 3 and supported by P1 and MAS

JJ & RUDY Thanks for the express face wash.

This is NOT an advert.

Look at what I dug up in my archives of pictures.

WARNING NOSTALGIA AHEAD!!!
This happened a few year back. Back when I had short hair and didn't know what concealer was.

Yes it was back when JJ and Rudy was still together, in case you didn't know they were an item in the Hitz.fm morning breakfast show but things change and move on. Now JJ has a younger newer partner called Ean. Still as cute as Rudy in his own way.

I still remember that afteroon, I was still a uni student in University Malaya. Walking alone the car park of KPS and I spotted the cruisers! "My lucky day, maybe I'll get some freebies?" Immediately I called on my Cicak Gang who were just 10 mins away in the Science Faculty

Hitz was promoting a new product from Clinique and the challenge was to come with a partner and wash their face with the product as fast as you can. Immediately my hands shot up with my partner in crime's hands. Reflexes.

Luckily Joel is always game for some fun so all he had to do was kneel down and close his eyes and wait. They didn't have a stool for me. A few minutes, eyes sores and flying tissues later, Joel had an express facial cleaning from yours truly and we won. Yes, the fastest facial cleansing in UM.

It was all fun and Hitz was so kind to give each of us a present. The whole 3 step range of Cliniques. Not just the miniature ones too.

1,2,3 ^^

Lucky for Joel as his mom's birthday was coming up and she was eyeing the products for awhile now. So I think he owes me one. As for mine I sold it to my brother who gave it to his wife I think. Hey I was a student and I needed the money.

A final picture with the loot.

But goes to show that a stroll to a car park might prove eventful. So if you're staying in KL, PJ, Subang area, go out talk a walk. You'll never know when the cruzers might be around.

P/S: Hitz.fm can you send the cruzers to my small town in Kedah? With a truck full of freebies^^

The hime in me.

I was feeling a little down the other day. Hormones, work, boredom, the need for human connection with my lovely friends all so far away. Take your pick.

Thinking back to what made me happy and the memory of dressing up came to mind. I was born with very, very little hair and being from a family of 3 macho boys my mom was afraid that I'll turn into a tomboy so she would dress me up in girly, frilly, lacey clothes. I never wore pants or shorts till I was 7 years young. Not that I mind, it was fun dressing up as a little princess.

My mom made me that dress^^

I would have a large hat with flowers, lacey stockings, and a chain of pearls borrowed from my mom. Yes, I was a young hime gyaru and I didn't even knew it. If you're not sure what the term hime gyaru means, basically it's a style of dressing up as princess like as possible. I'll leave it to the experts to explain to you. Go and check out the lovely Violet. I simply love the way she manages to look like an everyday princess and on a budget!

So, dress up it is! It was perfect as I just bought a frilly dress online. My subconscious hime must have sensed that I needed one soon. After about 30 mins of scavenging, make up, and hair....

Big hair check, lacey details check. Sorry no false lashes or stockings.

Pearls check, flowers check, ribbons check!

Apologies to all the hime gyaru followers out there. I know it's a far cry from the true style so let's just say I was "inspired". It was a spur of the moment idea.

After a long hour of cam-whoring, back to reality I went. It was already 11 pm so I couldn't go anywhere to enjoy my outfit. Off came the flowers, pearls and ribbons. Back to the closet the dress went. A hot shower and a cup of hot coco with cinnamon and marshmallows later I was a content little girl tucked snugly into her bed, drifting off into slumber.

How bout you? What do you do to perk yourself up when you're feeling a little blue?
