Malaysia Day has been promised a long time ago to our eastern sibling. 47 years ago to be exact. Why, I shall link you to more eloquent speaker HERE. So this is a grossly belated Malaysia Day.
As many Malaysians, any holiday is a good holiday regardless of reasons. Another excuse not to be at work but instead to celebrate, rest and brave the traffic jams to shopping complexes together is more then welcomed.
Here today I would like to share with you 2 videos. The 1st is a short and adorable commercial. Simple yet funny. Perhaps more so in the Malaysian context. A short ad by a local telco company called Digi really shows that us Malaysians are different but we are still the same.
The 2nd video is actually a full length film called Gadoh (Fight) that you will not see on TV or in the cinema because it is painfully truthful and honest and yet appeals to the optimist in me for a better Malysia. (Yes sadly there are people in big seats that think that their job is to protect the "fragile" Malaysian minds. pfft...). Iit is free so do spread it to your friends and if you really like it then grab a copy from Pusat Komas.
I think this brilliant blogger on k0k bL0k says it the best. Click HERE for a full review. Personally I love reading his BLOK as he often voices out what I sometimes fail to put into words. We need more people like him. And truthfully, it was him that got me to watch it.
Alright so enough of me ranting. Seat back, and enjoy.

Happy *way belated* Malaysia Day!~*hugs*

the sambal belacan vid is nice =)
Sambal belacan..so many ways to eat it... nice ad
oh wow... i can't believe they actually made a movie out of Gadoh.... amazing.. not the quality of it as a movie complete with fantastic scripts, direction and effects. I dunno if they had the funds to do so as it is an NGO. but every effort in this direction should be applauded.
but the very idea of producing and distributing such a politically incorrect movie for the masses. amazing..... ppl should watch if of only to realize that there are people who care about malaysia. and the first step towards dealing with such issues is to acknowledge that they actually exist.
Gadoh is a real great local movie that i ever watched.
