Of Black Heads.

I love taking random shots with my mobile phone camera.

Rather then lugging around a DSLR, of which I'm not worthy of, I'd rather have my new trusty SE C903. I especially love taking details of subjects in macro mode.

I admit though with the 5.o mega pixels I couldn't take details really close up. But I'm happy with these 2 pictures I took recently with a noirish twist.

I know it's just a kepala udang prawn heads,

but I love how the burnt bits adds a gritty feel to this.

Let sleeping dogs lie.

Sky having a nap despite me hovering around him like a pesky fly.

I'm obviously not a professional photographer but any advice or comments on these pictures are humbly welcomed.

P/S: These are virgin photos straight from my MS untouched , uncropped, unsaturated, unchanged by PS understand? ^^ Not by choice but by lack of knowledge.

2nd pic is better because of composition.

There's foreground interest - Sky's feet. And it tells a better story.

The 1st pic is what we'd normally call a snapshot. It's a random shot without thought for composition and etc. :P

Maybe what you could do to Sky's pic is also adjust the contrast and sharpen it a bit.

Don't need Photoshop. Photoscape is a much simpler tool for you. :)

Photo of Sky's nais.

Can feel how comfortable he is just laying there. If you're just planning to do minor touch-up to your photos.

You can try download this free app called PhotoFiltre. You can get it at this link : http://photofiltre.en.softonic.com/

Hello! I like the second shot too! What can make it better, is the OOMPH factor. I know there are so many photo editors outthere, (2 have been mentioned above, in fact!) but I use picasa.

a simple thing to make it more impactful is to increase highlights and tweak the shadows a bit. Which is often my limit of editing. I diss photoshop too (oh well, I admit, lack of knowledge as well)

P.s. We often hear the phrase "success is preparation meets opportunity".

I think it applies to photography as well, preparation in terms of knowing how to compose a shoot plus a few other skills, While opportunity is the most important part of it.

High end cams help facilitate a successful shot, but i believe even compacts/ HP cams can do a mighty good job of capturing the time, place and person. :-) (we shall leave VGA cameras out of this equation :p)

So go on, Take more good pics with your cam! :-)

LOL, how could you be mistaken for a guy glo? LOL

Anyway, composition is how frame your shot. How did you position your subject in relation to its surrounding, thus giving it more focus or less focus.

There are quite a few "rules" (I prefer to call them guidelines) to composition, just google around for "Photography Composition Tutorials Tips" and see what you can learn :)
