Day 3 Koh Samui

It's day 3 and I haven't even step foot on the pristine shores of Koh Samui beach. So on this day I woke up extra early and left sleeping beauty to his slumber. Bhundari has wonderful buggy services that run 24/7 but I wanted to take a stroll.

Take a walk with me?

Beautiful sun rise and misty green hills.

Down we go.

After only a couple of minutes here we are. Not quite the beech yet but look, infinity pool! Gorgeous. Wish you could smell the fresh sea air.

Just a few more steps to go.

We're here. Nothing like soft moist morning sand under your bare feet right?

Look my escort. Don't mess with him.

Thanks to timer and a helpful rock. The beach was bare that morning.

Tranquility...

Can you hear the soft waves rolling in?

Alright enough frolicking in the sands, let's check back to the pool area.

Beautiful view.

Some interesting flora.

Me at the pool with a flower in my hair.

Oh the lovely pink bag was from the hotel. I love it but sadly RM40 so I bid good bye to it when we left.

Infinity pool.

Huge lounge area. Still quite early so I could monkey around.

Lookie what I found.

Papa frog guarding his babies? More tantalising story about him but we'll leave that to another post, shall we?

A final look before leaving.

Alright let's head back.

On the path back. Up we go. Come on, breakfast awaits.

Such a bright vibrant colour.

Well that's all, thanks for coming with me for a little stroll. Let's do it again someday ^^

Happy Birthday to me~ ^^

Koh Samui Dinner @ The Cliff

Day 2 of Koh Samui and another scrumptious dinner planned.

This time we're heading out of Chaweng town and going up up and away to a place called The Cliff. It's quite a popular spot serving Mediterranean style dishes so we arrived quite early for dinner, if not it's best you make reservations first.

Just hop on to a tut-tut taxi like this and strap yourself in for a 20-30 mins ride.

Don't worry as there will be others to bring you back to town and perhaps at cheaper rates too.

We chose to sit al-fresco as the sun was just setting and we wanted a view of the cliff of course.

Here's the cliff. Well it looks like not much of a cliff, more like a slope but it's actually quite high up.

The lovely efficient and hi-tech waitress who could use a little more smile.

Appetisers.

Bread sticks and olives. Yummy with a hint of bitterness.

A photo of us. Yes we have a habit of dressing down for upscale restaurants.

Our refreshing tropical drinks.

Spicy roasted chicken with a s bed of salad and a side of fries. Nandoos? The chicken was not as succulent or spicy as we imagined but good eating.

Seafood platter of mussels, calamari, fish and prawns. MFM?

The garlic and herb really brought out the seafood goodness. and so juicy. make sure to eat while it's hot.

Yes, being typically Asian we ordered nasi goreng. JOKING! It's some kind of tomato herb rice. Really flavorful.

I even spotted a manatee. Don't believe me? Here...

Can you see it? Perhaps they should rename the restaurant to The Dugong/The manatee/ The Sea Cow?

Later, we hitched a ride back to Chaweng for a night walk. It was really busy and the streets were filled with stalls selling the most colourful nick-knacks. Luckily Ben was there to restrain me.

Then we saw this guy...

He's a Dutch who decided to settle in Koh Samui making a living out of cutting pieces of paper in record time, mere seconds. Not sure how he makes a living as you pay him what ever you feel like. Seriously. Well maybe he does paintings as well.

But after talking to him you get the feeling that he's quite proud and the fee is more like a challenge. So we gave him some money and quickly got out of there.

Here is the result of his master piece after only 2 mins...

I think he's better at crafting women then men but still pretty good, non? Though the bottom part a little out of proportion. More curves take more time.

Lastly ^^

Thank you for dropping by.

Koh Samui 1: Dinner @ Red Snapper

It's our honeymoon and our 1st night in Koh Samui so we wanted to treat ourselves to some good food. So after about an hour of exploring the streets of Chaweng uptown It was at night so didn't dare to go downtown as that's where the more adventurous go we found this place called the Red Snapper. It was selected as one of the best restaurants by Tattlers in 2009 so we had to go dine here.

The poster that caught our eyes.

Happily seated in a little corner. Everyone else were dressed so nicely except us. Me in my sundress and Ben in his T-shirt and shorts. Selamba~

This was our menu for the night. We were celebrating our marriage and they were celebrating their anniversary^^

Lovely bottle of white wine. From Chile, new world and warm climate so as expected it was sweet^^

We tried but couldn't finish the whole bottled so we ta pao doggie bag the bottle back to our hotel for further celebrations later on.

Our amuse bouch surprise. It sure did amused out taste buds. A little entree to start the night.

Grilled Chicken on bamboo marinated with Moroccan spices or better known to us Malaysian, a version of the Satay but it was so tender and juicy and the mango chutney at the side was at just the right acidity and sweetness. A dish that I might return to Koh Samui for.

The BouillabaisseAlign Center.

You know you're in a high end restaurant when the plates are huge or oddly shaped and the portions are tiny but you're not complaining much coz the food is THAT good.

Home made lobster cannelloni. Creamy sauce+ Lobster= Happy days.

Red Snapper fillet in herb crust. Only 1 complain, this portion was waaaaaay too small. Perhaps they want to leave you wanting more?

Dark Chocolate Pave. Soft melting chocolate cake with supposedly peppermint sherbet but think it melted but you can really taste the refreshing peppermint.

We left The Red Snapper satisfied and with a lighter walet but still feeling a little hungry so we got a burger on the way back to the hotel.

On the way to our room I was abducted by ALIENS! I think it was the wine taking over my body *blush*

"Beam me up, Scottie"

Joking of course. This was the huge lamp that lighted our corridor. And once in our cozy little love nest look what we found. Not an alien of course.

Aw, how lovely~

Koh Samui Day1

Honeymoon in Koh Samui. We decided to plan a little get away after our ROM so straight to the internet we went. Booked a lovely package to Koh Samui from Firefly, inclusive of hotel.

Incidentally "Koh" in Thai means island and Samui in Japanese means cold but this lil island is far from cold. If anything it's hot Hot HOT!

Since we're now based in the north, Ben and I had to catch a flight from Penang to Subang and a connecting flight straight to the island it's self! Talk about convenience.

It took only about 2 hours which I had calculated would have taken only 45 mins from Penang but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

TOUCH DOWN! immediately we were greeted with Thai hospitality. A buggy was waiting to ferry the passengers of the strip! Already you can feel relaxed. From there we were whisked away by the friendly hotel driver to out destination.

LOVE BHUNDHARI!!! Just 10 mins drive away from the airport but you'll never realise it ever. Love the gold and magenta colours of the hotel. And the lovely lady whose name I forgot. She's a student from Europe working part-time here. Oh yes, the staff are really attentive any time you call there will be someone there to help you. even 4a.m!

Quick info bout Bhundhary, the name carries the meaning of lotus or water lily in Sanskrit and it's right on a hill slope leading to the beautiful beach. Bhundhari is also just 10 mins drive from the town of Chaweng but you wouldn't even realise as it's totally feels like your in a quiet, tranquil haven. Off we go to our room.

One day, my bed room will be inspired by this^^ Love the warm bold colours. The black, gold and magenta blend so well and far from being gloomy it's absolutely sultry and romantic

Narrow but wonderfully built bathroom. there's even the skyline! Yups it's natural white light.

Look at the sink! Au naturel^^and there's a surprise

There's a large window connecting the bathtub and the bed room. Talk about free excess. Ben doing his best "Come hither look." Enough with the bedroom let's take a look at the view. Take a deep breath and feast your eyes...

To our right the sea. Can you feel the salty sea breeze?

To our left, hillside of other rooms.

To our front, the lobby.

After about 30mins of oh-ing , ah-ing and unpacking off we went back the lobby for our free ride into town.

Here's our nice comfy ride. 3 times a day so if you plan well you can save a tidy sum. Off for some adventure.

Following our noses, into a random alley to try out some local delicacies for our 1st nom. We started uptown so no worries about unsavoury surprises just yet.

Tom Yum stir fry prawns with rice.

Yeay, our 1st Thai noms.

Stir Fry glass noodle. Yes its CKT but we had no idea as the menu didn't have any pictures -_-"

After a nice long walk and a massage WE LOVES BODY MASSAGES!!!!! we couldn't resist it.

Into a Baskin Robbins we hid.

Yeah, we're weaklings and afraid of the almighty frying sun. After another few hours of walking the sidewalks back to the 7-11 for our pick up.

Spot the Ben.

Let's see if you can guess what this is....any ideas?

How cool is this. I've only read about it in the newspaper. Let banking come to you. Yes ladies and gentlemen, a mobile bank.

In the evening we were back out again scouring the streets.

The streets was alive with food! Yums..but no, we were after some bigger fishes. and that fish deserves a post all on it's own. That all for now. Many more pictures and experiences to blog about so stay tuned!

Kapkhungkap~
